Finnick is from the book series 'The Hunger Games'. Though the movies do follow the general layout and the larger details are the same, there are many scenes that are played differently. The trilogy centers around a game that selected children are forced to play and the war that brought them to an end. Though the warnings will go into my detail, please note that the history does mention child murder and forced prostitution.

A note about Finnick's history: he's the youngest Victor to ever win the games, and it's often questioned why a Career District - which is a District that trains their children to fight in the game and often has volunteer tributes - would allow someone as young as 14 to be reaped without a Volunteer. It's my belief that while 4 is a Career District and does train their children, they don't find glory in the Games as the other Careers do. This can be reflected by the fact that in spite of being a Career District, 4 is one of the first to step up to fight against the Capitol.

Finnick is in exceptional shape and has no medical conditions to speak of throughout much of the story. He does get injured during the Games, and he does fall into a state of deep depression after the events of the second story before recovering in the third book.

TDLR; friendly, confident, seductive, cocky, fun, caring, kind

Finnick is known for his seductive and flirtatious nature. The book first introduces him by explaining his sexual conquests in the Capitol and our first interaction with him is a flirtatious encounter with Katniss. It's this trait, combined with his good looks, that makes him such a favorite in the Capitol. Even at the young age of 14, they were in love with him and he was able to win his games somewhat due to his generous sponsors. However, we eventually learn that Finnick isn't so free with his love and has been forced into prostitution from the age of 16. In reality, he's in love with a girl struggling with PTSD and other mental disabilities. Still, this is very much a part of his personality, even if his eagerness to sleep around isn't. Additionally, this charm also allows for a sociable and friendly attitude. In the movies, Finnick has a line that, when paraphrased, said that he's happy to hear about every death in the Games since they'd all have to die anyway. While this was an act even in the movie, there's no equivalent line in the books, allowing him to remain nice even when playing his role. He's also the one person who's able to bring his girlfriend out of her shell because of his patience and attentive attitude.

While Finnick is hardly as egotistical as he may seem, he's aware of his own attractiveness and knows how people respond. Any kind of modesty would be false and obviously so. However, the real Finnick and the Finnick that's shown on screen aren't the same people. When in the public eye, he wears his confidence on his sleeve and plays up his love for attention. That doesn't mean he's actually overly vain. When injured in the Games, he's just as quick as the others to use a medication that, while helping his injuries, causes his skin to tint green. Sadly, we're shown very little of Finnick outside of the Games but when Annie is back and things have calmed down, Katniss mentions that when allowed to be himself, his sense of humor can be self-deprecating. Some of the jokes he told when in the arena with Katniss do show an ability to not take himself too seriously. Below it all, Finnick even has a little bit of a prankster in him. It's his idea to scare Peeta when some medicine changes their appearances slightly, giving both he and Katniss a good laugh at Peeta's surprise.

Nice, charming, not-actually-as-arrogant; it's likely no surprise that he knows how to sacrifice for the greater good or things he finds most important in his life. The first example we see is Finnick being willing to allow his mentor and friend to sacrifice herself so that he can save Peeta. However, we also learn that the entire time, he's also been willing to sacrifice everything to protect Katniss and Peeta so that the revolution could really begin. This is a very large risk as capture would mean torture and death, and there was very little in the way of an uprising until they prove to be successful. Later, we learn that the president also threatened to kill everyone he loved should he refuse to allow himself to be sold, and thus, he became a sex slave to the Capital.

The willingness to do nearly anything he needs to do in order to survive is only considered a useful trait if you're on his side. We don't see Finnick's game and when it's mentioned, the conversation often revolves around the Capitol's love for him. However, it's likely that the same confident act was on display. Following that logic, it's very likely that while Finnick didn't play the barbarian, he likely wasn't the picture of empathy that Katniss displays during her own Games. Since he was a Career tribute, he teamed up with the other Careers and in the end, would've been against that same group in order to win. The movie shows Finnick being cold during the Quarter Quell, i.e. the sounds of the canon being music to his ears, and while I don't think that fits for the Quell, that version of him was likely the one put forth during the 65th Hunger Games.

Child murderer; sex slave to the Capitol; 2x Tribue; is it any wonder that Finnick is barely holding it together? There's no doubt that he's managed to keep strong even during the harshest of trials, but he has a limit. For 10 years, he's lived with guilt and shame and even managed to spin the forced prostitution into something useful by managing to draw out the Capitol's secrets during pillow talk. However, this isn't without limitations. After Annie is taken by the Capitol, not only does Finnick break down, he reveals the fact that he's barely been hanging on for quite a while and only managed because it's much easier to hold yourself together than to pick up the pieces once you break. During her captivity, he's difficult to rouse, barely seems aware of the world, and finally shows all of the accumulated trauma. However, Finnick finds strength in love, not just weakness. Once Annie is returned, he's able to pull himself back together and remember why he fights.

All in all, Finnick will most likely come off as the version he presents to the public.

There is no official height given for Finnick so I'll be estimating. Finnick is considered to be a muscular man in excellent shape so I'll put him at 6'2 and 200 lbs. His hair is a bronze-colored likely dyed by the sun, and his eyes are considered a striking green.

It's difficult to get a canon read on his wardrobe due to either being in the Capital or fighting for a rebellion. However, considering District 4 is located roughly where California stands now, it's likely they spend time in as little clothing as possible with shorts and no shirt/short-sleeved shirts a favorite.

ABILITY

Combat

Finnick is exceptionally athletic. Proficient in knives and other small weapons, he's able to hold his own in combat. However, he shines with nets and his trademark trident. Due to having been raised in the fishing district, Finnick takes to nets as second nature and uses them to not only capture food but humans as well. Additionally, he's muscular and fast though within human limitations. In the water, it would be difficult to match his speed.

Seduction

Handsome and confident, Finnick has no problems playing up his natural charisma and playing off the attention he gets.

What: Angst, hurt/comfort, dark, and recovery stories are among my favorite. I'm also open to fluff, slice of life, smut, gen, light-hearted, and most other genres. I like action enough to write fight scenes and for the occasional meme. I'd prefer crack to be limited, but I'm fine with comedic/fun threads.

Who: Canon, cross canon, LAs, OCs, etc are all welcome. Evil characters are just as welcome as nice, and there's no canon exclusion. Basically, if you're worried about tagging me, don't be. I'll work with you. The only exceptions are canon doubles.

As a rough example of what to expect if you interact with Finnick: if it's not an AU with someone from his District or canonmate, it'll likely be his flirteous act. Outside of the customers he's forced to take, he won't actually follow up.

Where: I take Finnick from the book trilogy. There are a few differences between the two but not so many that we can't make it work if you play a castmate from the movie.

A note about AUs: AUs with Finnick would be hard. I'm up for them if you have some ideas or there's something equivalent to the Hunger Games, but his world is so unique and an important part of his character. Talk to me, I'd be happy to work with you.

When: I'm very flexible with this but default to precanon. He'll still be 18+ unless the meme specifies differently. Canonmates, we can work this out. I'm also good with 'he lived' AUs.

Shipping: Yes, please. I love me a ship. However, please note that without a canon relationship or assumed CR, it will take a lot of buildup. Finnick likely doesn't care too much about physical appearances and finds something lovely in a kind personality.

For canonmates, obviously Annie is a go. I also like him with Johanna. I'm also good with all others including Katniss, Peeta, insert person here under the right circumstances. That said, I default to friendship unless we plan something or it leads there organically.

For crosscanon, it's the same approach. I'll try most things. If the character is evil, it'll be a dark!ship instead of fluffy, but I'm down for it.

No child characters please. I'll go as low as 16 if Finnick is roughly that age for memes. No upward age limit.

Type: Kind. Finnick is able to see things not everyone can and someone doesn't have to be perfect to get his attention. I imagine most things, even ignoring his romance with Annie, will take time to develop.

One-sided crushes are fine even if they don't meet the above criteria. Likewise, if you want to try and ship with Finnick but don't know how, feel free to message me.

Smut: Also a yes, both canon and crosscanon. Smut will take even more buildup for Finnick unless we're going ark due to his past but assumed CR works for memes. Again, light and dark are both welcome. Please refer to the kink list here for more detailed information.

FORCED PROSTITUION - Victors that are considered to be attractive are forced to sell their bodies to the Capitol under the threat of having everyone they love killed. President Snowe will either do the transaction or even give Victors to influential members of the Capitol for a night or two as a reward. Finnick was forced to endure this from the age of 16 and is known to be the most popular.

DEATH OF CHILDREN - From the age of 12, children are randomly chosen to participate in a brutal game were there's only one winner. Many kids have died in these games over the years.
